Welcome back blog!
July has been a busy month for me, both work wise, craft wise and family wise. Despite some health setbacks the past few months, I have been trying to keep myself busy, and by that I mean keeping my fingers busy. I decided in the beginning of the month to reopen my Etsy Shop to (hopefully) earn a few bucks to put away. I have always loved making things and lately just give them away to unsuspecting friends, family, etc. for presents. Since a few began requesting custom assignments I though maybe it was time to get the shop back into gear.
I have had some qualms with Etsy in the past few tears as they started becoming more, as I say, "professional" in their layout, requirements, etc... Unless you have the Photoshopping and set up skills of an elite fashion magazine, the site seems to want to limit your potential to sell, which in turn gives soccer moms with a lot of time on their hands less of an advantage in selling goods and puts the 20-something art students in the limelight. Not that there is anything wrong with having magazine style editing of each and every one of your products, but it is something that us full time moms and workers simply don't have. We rely on our low end camera and I-Phones for a lot of our photos and sneak time on the internet at work to upload our listings. I feel quite accomplished thus far and have even made my first sale ( a custom order for an old friend ). I know I need much work on my listing skills and branding as well as perfecting the goods that I sell. There is always room for improvement and, as a perfectionist at heart, I know I will be making lots of mental notes on what needs improvement.
Check out the newly re-opened "Noodle & the Pea" Shop on Etsy and like our new Facebook Page to keep informed on new listings and coupon codes you can use in the shop!
